Set during the 70's Atlanta Child Murders, a young brother and sister fascinated with comic books- experience traumatic events which cause them to question the meaning of heroes, villains, superman & themselves.Synopsis:
Based on true events, "Superman Doesn't Steal" is a coming-of-age story, seen through the eyes of 8-year-old Harriet, who is as fascinated with superheroes as is her older brother Jackson. Tamika, a Virginia native, graduated from The American University and Howard University. Her first screenplay, JAR BY THE DOOR, was a Sundance Finalist winning several awards including Gordon Parks Indie Film Award. Other honors include: ABC/Walt Disney Fellowship in Screenwriting, the CBS Director’s Initiative and AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women Fellowship. Tamika has produced/written/directed several award-winning shorts and features that have found distribution. She was a staff writer and producer on MONOGAMY. In an effort to give back Tamika created the non-profit, Make A Film Foundation (MAFF) which grants film wishes to children with serious or life-threatening medical conditions by teaming them with noted film industry who help them create short film legacies. She has produced 4 Award winning narrative shorts and over 100 short docs via MAFF. Tamika is part of Rideback Rise Fellowship circle and Finalist in Shondaland’s Director Mentoring Program. Her current film has won several awards.
